Welcome to Conflict Prevention and Peace Building Initiative

Initiated in 2010, Conflict Prevention and Peace Building Initiative is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-political and humanitarian organization that is committed to the prevention of violent conflicts in Nigeria and Africa.

Through its five mutually re-enforcing programs – Conflict Tracking and Reporting Program (CTRP), Peace Education and Advocacy Program (PEAP), Security Awareness Program (SAP), Leadership Education Program (LEP) and the Capacity Empowerment Program (CEP) – which focuses on multiple themes across multiple regions, with emphasis on improving institutional capacity, media and information flow, youth identity and security, CPPBI seeks to generate general awareness about the (actual and) potential causes of violent conflicts, and to help explore practical strategies towards checking them.

COMPREHENSIVE PEACE BUILDING FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
(1st -2nd May 2017)

The face of conflict has transformed from the geopolitical power shifts of conventional warfare to more fluid, transnational aggression initiated by non-state groups. Peacebuilding is rapidly evolving to remain relevant. In recent years, peacebuilding interventions have grown in size, complexity and in the diversity of actors involved. No single set of actors can address the multiplicity of post-conflict issues — a comprehensive approach is required. Peacebuilders must rise to the challenge of applying international best practices while ensuring national ownership.

This seminar series develops your capacity to navigate this new global environment. The two-day event provides a comprehensive overview of peacebuilding and conflict analysis, using current cases and scenarios with emphasis on the interlinkages between peace and security issues.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course is open to individuals currently working in the field of peacebuilding from governments, civil society organisations, international organisations and the military. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 25 April 2017.
VENUE Grand Hotel, Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria
